Krysta Sa (b.1988 Toledo, OH) is an interdisciplinary artist who examines how human and non-human bodies transmute trauma. Her current research centers the knowledge of female alchemists, spa aestheticians and witches and their relationships to familiars to speculate on gendered practices of observation and power.  In collaboration with matter –blood, salt, ash, crystals– Krysta tangles body treatments and material arrangements with histories of colonization, capitalism and white supremacy to conjure complicated mythologies of exploitation and transformation.

Krysta lives in Durham, NC and is a MFA candidate and teaching fellow at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
